Cancellation Policy
- Before shipping: you can cancel your order anytime before it ships — no questions asked — from the order's detail page under My Orders.
- Refund: if payment was already made, a refund is issued for the order total minus the payment processing fee charged at checkout, which is non-refundable. If payment hadn't been completed yet, nothing is charged and there's nothing to refund.
- Once shipped: an order can no longer be cancelled — at that point, our Returns & Refunds policy applies instead, once delivered.
- Unpaid orders: if a payment is started but never completed, the order is automatically cancelled after a set holding period so it doesn't sit indefinitely — you're welcome to simply retry payment on the same order before that happens, from its detail page.
Returns & Refunds Policy
- Return window: 7 days from the date of delivery, for all eligible items.
- Eligible items: not all items are eligible for return, including but not limited to: customised, engraved, or personalised jewellery; previously exchanged items; bullion and coins; and items showing signs of usage, wear and tear, alteration, breakage, resizing, or tampering.
- Condition: eligible items must be returned in their original packaging, with all tags, certificates, and accessories included.
- How it works: requesting a return does not immediately trigger a refund. We first confirm the request, and once the item is physically back with us and inspected, the refund is processed.
- Defective or wrong item: if your item arrived defective, damaged, or different from what you ordered, we recommend recording an unboxing video — it helps us verify and resolve your claim quickly.
- Defective or wrong item — refund: confirmed defective, damaged, or not-as-ordered items are refunded in full for everything paid; the metal-rate adjustment below does not apply, and we also cover return shipping.
- Return shipping: for all other returns, return shipping costs are borne by the customer.
- Refund — what's covered: a return reverses your purchase. You are refunded everything you paid — the metal value, making charges, and any stone or embellishment charges — except the payment processing fee charged at checkout, which is non-refundable in all cases.
- Metal-rate adjustment: the metal value is refunded at the lower of your original invoice rate or our prevailing rate on the day the returned item is received and inspected. If the rate has risen since your purchase, you are refunded at your original invoice rate; if it has fallen, the metal portion of your refund is reduced to the current rate. Making charges and stone charges are never affected by rate movement. Any applicable tax is adjusted in line with the credit note.
- Refund timeline: once approved, refunds are issued within 15 working days to your original payment method.
- Outcome: a return request may be approved or declined after review, at Karat Bazaar's sole discretion — you'll be notified by email either way, with a reason given if declined.
Since every piece is handmade to order, its actual weight can vary slightly from the quoted weight. Small variation within our standard tolerance carries no price change. If a piece's actual weight falls outside that tolerance, we true up the price before shipping — either a partial refund (if it came in lighter) or a request for the balance (if it came in heavier) — and you're notified by email either way, with nothing shipped until that's resolved.
Buyback Policy
Applies only to jewelry originally purchased from Karat Bazaar. Jewelry from other sources is not accepted for buyback. Buyback is handled manually — please contact us to start one.
- Eligible items: gold jewelry only — silver items are not eligible for buyback. At minimum, the item must have been originally purchased from Karat Bazaar, verified against your original order record — meeting this alone does not guarantee eligibility. Final eligibility for buyback is at Karat Bazaar's sole discretion.
- Valuation: weight × purity × the day's gold rate, at the rate on the day of buyback — not the rate you originally paid.
- Deductions: a wastage/handling deduction applies, and depends on the item type — more intricate designs typically lose more material in remelting than simpler pieces. This is determined at the time of buyback, at Karat Bazaar's sole discretion. Making charges from your original purchase are not included in the buyback value, regardless of item type.
- Stones & embellishments: not included in the buyback value — only the metal weight and purity are valued.
- Verification: we fully re-verify the weight and purity of the piece at the time of buyback, regardless of what's on record from your original order.
- Documentation: your order number or original invoice, plus any additional documents required by applicable regulations at the time of buyback.
- Payment: method and processing timeline are agreed between you and us at the time of buyback.
